There are several measures you can take to help reduce any discomfort you may experience when you first wear your new Invisalign retainer. These steps include:
- Continue to follow the instructions of your dentist. Invisalign retainers must be worn for around 20+ hours a day, unless instructed otherwise.
- Wear your new aligners at night. You may experience discomfort when you first wear your Invisalign retainer; wearing them at night and sleeping through the “worst” of it will reduce any discomfort during the day.
- During the first couple days of your new retainer try to restrict your diet to soft foods. Although you do have to remove your Invisalign retainer during mealtimes, you will find that your teeth may be more sensitive to harder foods than usual.
- Drinking cool (but not ice cold) water, while wearing your new clear retainer will help to sooth your sore teeth.
